With subtropical landscapes and luxurious vegetation, desert areas, vertiginous cliffs and golden beaches, the Canary Islands have everything to offer you. Lanzarote, the land of lava and fire, Fuerteventura, with its nod to the Sahara, Tenerife, dominated by its fascinating volcano and Grand Canaria, with multitudes of magnificent beaches… they are all quite different. But each one of them offers a dazzling sun and a mild climate which guarantees a successful seaside holiday for all ages.
Considered a ‘mini-continent’, the island of Gran Canaria owes its nickname to the great diversity of its landscapes, climate, flora and fauna. A unique sea of sand dunes extends over an area of almost 250 hectares on the south coast, where the popular seaside resorts of Playa del Inglés and Playa de Maspalomas, with their superb sandy beaches, golf courses, shopping centres and entertainments, are located. Excellent hotels are also contributing to an increase in the island’s popularity.
Approx. 35 km from the airport, Playa de Maspalomas is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday. The tourist area of ‘Meloneras’ was developed several years ago and offers top-class hotels and many modern shops, cafés and restaurants. It is linked to the palm grove and beach by a beautiful promenade. The magnificent sand dunes are the main attraction in Maspalomas. Golfers will appreciate the beautiful 18-hole course on the edge of the sand dunes, as well as the more recent addition of ‘Meloneras Golf’ at the northern tip of the hotel area.
Lively seaside resort and the largest on the island, with a promenade (shops, restaurants and bars) and a long, sandy beach extending to the dunes of Maspalomas. Playa del Inglés offers a wide choice of shops and a lively nightlife, with three large complexes, ‘Yumbo’, ‘Cita’ and ‘Kasbah’, providing shopping and entertainmentsainment. Distance to airport approx. 30 km.
Quiet seaside resort near Playa del Inglés, with shops, bars and restaurants. San Agustín is also where you will find the fine sand black beach, Playa de las Burras, and an attractive seafront promenade. There is also a very large thalassotherapy centre (approx. 7,000 m²) at the Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel.
The hotel area is part of the seaside resort of Puerto Rico, situated to the south-west of Playa del Inglés and approx. 50 km from the airport (good motorway link). The region is considered to be the sunniest in Europe and therefore it is quite dry. Most of the hotels were built impressively on the cliff tops. In the centre of Puerto Rico, you will find several forms of entertainmentsainment, a little port and a sandy beach. There are several cafés and small shops around the bay. With good weather, a magnificent view of Tenerife can be enjoyed from the cafe terraces, with the summit of the Teide emerging from the clouds on most days. The white, sandy beach in the bay of Amadores and its wonderful sunsets will take your breath away!
This tour will take you to places that are inaccessible to large buses and difficult to find when travelling in a rental car. It will take you to the most spectacular reefs at the furthest end of the island. You will cross one of the hidden gorges, the ‘Grand Canyon’ of the west. The landscape’s features include three dams, unique rocky formations and a small and remote village of caves. In good weather, we will pass through a pine forest to reach the reefs, from where you will enjoy a spectacular view of the north and west of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. Afterwards, we will continue towards the highest village and the youngest crater of Gran Canaria (1,400 m). Tour continues with a visit to Teror, a place of pilgrimage. This beautiful village is known for its historic centre and basilica. Return to the south along the west coast.
Our excursion begins in the Valley of a 1,000 Palm Trees before we travel to the highest and most beautiful summits of the island. Just before passing the highest dam (1,550 m) on the island, we will stop near one of the symbolic places in Gran Canaria: the Roque Nublo. The mirador from this ‘rock in the clouds’ will offer you a spectacular view of the Pico de las Nieves, the highest mountain on the island (1,949 m). The Teide is visible from here in good weather. You will be surprised by the variety of flora on the peaks of the Canary Islands. Afterwards, on winding roads with several stops to admire the view, you will travel over the highest mountain pass (1,500 m) before reaching the highest village (Artenara, 1,200 m) on the island. Delicious cuisine awaits you in an original and quintessential mountain restaurant where we will stop for lunch. The roads in the north-east of the island will take you into a lush, green landscape, past the youngest and oldest craters on the island, into beautiful villages like Santa Brigida and San Mateo, and through the island’s wine-growing region.
Travel inland on Gran Canaria and experience a unique adventure! You will travel through mountains and valleys in a convoy of 4-wheel drive cars (each 4x4 vehicle will have its own driver). Taking small, little used roads over high mountain passes offers you a delightful and amazing opportunity to admire the most well-known attractions of the island as well as its hidden treasures.
