A snowy and exotic atmosphere for the whole family

Sweden has 120 ski resorts, stretching from the Arctic Circle town of Riksgränsen in the far north, through the Dalarna province in the east, to the backbone of the Swedish mountains in the northwest. Far from the hustle and bustle of the European ski slopes, the Swedish mountains offer an idyllic setting for a family holiday. The slopes are accessible to skiers of all abilities, from green runs for beginners to black runs, the favourite playground for advanced skiers. Would you like to relax in a sauna and then take an invigorating jump in the snow? A dog sled or snowmobile ride? Or a trip to the wilderness to see elk and reindeer in their natural habitat? Sweden is the perfect destination for these unforgettable experiences with family and friends! So what are you waiting for?

Located in western Sweden, Sälen is home to Stöten, Tandådalen/Hundfjället and Lindvallen/Högjället.
A true paradise for winter sports enthusiasts, the destination offers countless slopes and a multitude of lifts. While Tandådalen has mainly technical slopes, Hundfjället stands out for its wide range of long runs. Högfjället is a ski area that is more suitable for beginners and children, while advanced skiers will have ample opportunity to challenge themselves at Lindvallen. Stöten is a must for a family holiday with its slopes suitable for all levels and its excellent recreational facilities. In addition to skiing, don't miss out on a snowmobile or dog sled ride. You can also enjoy a meal or a hot chocolate in one of the many restaurants and cafés located in the heart of the valley.

Must Do

After a day in the powder, you can relax at the Poolarium at the foot of the slopes in Tandådalen. With its indoor and outdoor pools, whirlpools, sauna and massage services, Poolarium is a great place to take a wellness break in the heart of the mountains.

In Lindvallen, the Experium leisure centre is a delight for the whole family. This complex offers a wide range of activities: bowling, spa, gym, cinema, restaurants, shops and even a water park!

Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the 250 kilometres of groomed trails in the Sälen mountains. From short, child-friendly trails to long walks in the mountains, you can enjoy the enchanting scenery in the middle of snowy forests.

Must See

At Lindalens Farm, time has stood still. Built in 1734, this wooden hut, accessible from the "Kalven runt" trail, welcomes you in a cosy atmosphere to enjoy a coffee and a waffle by the fire.

A magical moment! Have you ever dreamt of spending the festive season in the mountains? For Christmas and New Year's Eve, the Sälen region dresses up in its best clothes to immerse its visitors in a magical atmosphere. Christmas markets, illuminations and other magical activities make for an unforgettable holiday experience!

Snowshoeing, snowmobiling, dog sledding or ski touring, take the time to admire the unique panoramas of the Scandinavian forests. It's a great way to take a deep breath of fresh air and recharge your batteries in the middle of nature.

Tourist locations

Stöten is the most northerly resort in the Sälen mountain range and also has the largest vertical drop (370 metres). It therefore offers a breathtaking view of the Swedish and Norwegian mountains. This picturesque resort with its 45 km of slopes is suitable for everyone, from beginners to the most experienced skiers.

Lindvallen / Högfjället

With its many green and red runs, as well as childcare and babysitting services, Lindvallen is the place to be when you're on a family trip. Lindvallen is linked to the small resort of Högfjället, whose wide slopes guarantee unparalleled skiing pleasure.

Tandadalen / Hundfjället

Tandådalen has two faces: to the east, it offers wide, scenic slopes and the largest snow park in Sälen, and to the west, it has technical black runs that will delight the most daring skiers. Hundfjället is accessible from Tandådalen by shuttle bus. Here you can enjoy the pleasant slopes and the enchanting forest. The children are guaranteed to have a great time!
