Benidorm

Calpe – about 50 kilometres from Alicante and the bustling town of Benidorm – offers a relaxing setting with beautiful sandy beaches, where you can alternate between relaxation and water sports, such as stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing and jet skiing. As you venture further inland, you can also go hiking or enjoy other outdoor sports. Lovers of nature will particularly enjoy the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park or Las Salinas salt lake for bird watching. This charming seaside resort, backed by the Sierra Helada mountains, borders the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean and boasts a gently sloping beach.   • This excursion will take you to discover Algar and its magnificent waterfalls, which are located about 20 kilometres from Benidorm. The entire area is classified as a nature reserve, so expect exceptional landscapes and panoramic views! Once there, you can decide for yourself what activities you want to do – have a picnic with a view, swim in the icy waters of one of the many pools, or explore the 1.5-kilometre trail that winds along the river.

    Your first activity will allow you to immerse yourself in the plant world of Albarda, where some 700 species of plants and a wide variety of roses and palm trees flourish over an area of 50,000 square metres. In addition to its extensive biodiversity, Albarda is home to a maintained garden and a wild garden, which recreate the atmosphere of Valencian Renaissance gardens and their influences from Arab culture. This peaceful place is ideal for enjoying a quiet day and falling under the spell of a living, constantly changing natural environment. These gardens, which were created in 1990, bear witness to the richness of the flora that thrives in the Mediterranean climate.

    After visiting the garden, you will head to the lively port of Denia, where you can enjoy lunch as you watch the boats come in, or stroll through the pedestrian streets leading to the castle, which you can go inside if you wish (tickets available on the day). Denia bears the influences of its Roman origins, from its Muslim occupation to its conquest by the Christian King James II in 1304 and today represents a jewel in the crown of the Valencian community. It is also a gateway to the Balearic Islands, which can be seen on the horizon on a clear day.

  • This excursion will allow you to discover the beautiful city of Alicante, located south of the Costa del Sol. It is relatively unexplored, yet has so much to offer. Take the time to explore its magnificent port, marble esplanade, historic district with a maze of ancient streets that were once part of the fortified city, lively central market, shopping district with avenues lined with designer boutiques, and, of course, its castle perched on a promontory overlooking the old town.
    During the journey along the coastal road, your English-speaking guide will tell you all about everything you’re seeing. You will pass through the villages of Villajoyosa and Campello and drive along the golden beach of San Juan, which stretches all the way to Alicante itself. 
    Once there, you can explore the city at your leisure and take advantage of the public transport network to get around between sites and make the most of your day (allow €10 for a full day).

  • This excursion will first take you to explore charming Calpe, travelling along the northern motorway through Altea, and then via the coastal road with breathtaking views of Altea Bay. After a 40-minute drive, you will arrive at the old town, with its historic centre, maze of cobbled streets and charming squares. You can enjoy views of its charming colourful houses, urban art, museums, art galleries, bars and restaurants. After this first stop of 1 hour and 15 minutes, you will continue on the road for about 10 minutes before reaching the port area, where you will stop for around 2 hours. This area is famous for its seafood restaurants and its impressive 332-metre high rock, the Peñon de lfach. Once there, you can stroll around at your leisure, admire the view of Moraira from Playa de la Fossa or simply relax and watch the world go by.

  • On this excursion, you can discover Spain's third largest city and one of the liveliest in the Mediterranean, Valencia. After departing from Benidorm or Calpe, it will take around 2 hours to reach Valencia. Once there, you will have plenty of time to explore this surprising city, founded in 138 BC, which boasts an architectural heritage combining Gothic and Baroque styles, as well as ultra-modern buildings such as the extraordinary City of Arts and Sciences, which is home to the Oceanographic Museum, the Science Museum and the Hemisfèric. You’re free to stroll at your leisure between the different sites, hop on a tourist bus, sit on a terrace to enjoy a paella or take a guided tour of the Oceanographic Museum or the football stadium.
    The stop in Valencia will be followed by a meal (set menu) accompanied by a cold drink.

  • A trip to the Costa Blanca would not be complete without a visit to Guadalest, an ancient fortified village perched on top of a cliff and a real marvel to behold. Along the way, you will go past various mountain ranges, including the Sierra Aixorta, the Sierra Aitana and the Sierra Serrella and discover different sides of the province of Alicante. 
    The village of Guadalest itself has only 200 inhabitants, but boasts a rich and ancient history dating back over 1,000 years. It is best known for its iconic castle, but that's not all – it is also home to a reservoir that supplies water to neighbouring towns, including the centre of Benidorm. 
    You can explore the site at your leisure, from the old washhouse to the keep built on the summit.
    Next, you will set off to discover Algar and its magnificent waterfalls, located about 20 kilometres from Benidorm.   • The Costa Blanca, like the rest of Spain, is renowned for its wine production. On this excursion, you will first head to Jalón, a picturesque wine-growing valley surrounded by mountains. In early spring, when the trees are in bloom, this valley lined with almond trees is flooded with pink and white flowers, which is a magnificent sight to behold. Every Saturday, Jalón also hosts one of the largest flea markets on the Costa Blanca, where antique lovers flock to find the most unusual items. You will spend approximately two hours in Jalón. 
    At the end of the visit, you will head inland, passing through valleys of vineyards and orchards where almond and orange trees flourish, before arriving at the Skull Caves, where you will stay for around 1 hour and 15 minutes. These caves are said to have formed around 150 million years ago, and traces of life dating back more than 50,000 years have been found there. There will be the option to have lunch here (not included in the price).

  • This activity invites you to discover the most unmissable sites around Benidorm and immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions of the Costa Blanca. The route will take you along the horseshoe-shaped mountain range, a natural barrier that preserves the microclimate that bathes the region it surrounds, and attracts travellers from all over the world throughout the year.
    After leaving Benidorm, you will first head towards Villajoyosa, a seaside town also known as the ‘chocolate town’. You will then head inland to the historic village of Finestrat, with its hanging houses and fabulous backdrop dominated by the Puig Campaña. You will then skirt around the back of the Sierra Cortina before joining the CV-70 leading through La Nucia to the beautiful village of Polop, dominated by the Lion's Peak. There, you will make another stop to visit the house of the writer Gabriel Miró, the Plaza de Los Chorros with its 221 natural springs, and the Costa Magica museum belonging to the late sculptor Antonio Marco. Here, you can see miniature versions of the Costa Blanca's iconic buildings, such as Valencia Cathedral and the blue dome church in Altea, that have been meticulously recreated by hand. 
    At the end of this visit, you will head to Callosa D'en Sarrià, before reaching the foot of the Sierra Bernia through medlar orchards and passing through the small town of Altea la Vella, nestled between the rugged peaks and the Mediterranean Sea. From there, you will take the coastal road to the next stop, where you can visit Altea, with its famous church, whitewashed Mediterranean houses and cobbled streets. You will have enough time here for a lunch break, to enjoy the breathtaking view from the mirador or to simply to soak up its bohemian atmosphere.
